Hands working with clay at a pottery wheel

Designed for all skill levels, this class offers a fun and hands-on introduction to both handbuilding and wheel throwing.

Students will learn the basics of handbuilding, which can be used to create functional items like mugs, sculptures, planters, or other organic and imaginative forms. On the wheel, you’ll cover essential techniques such as centering, opening, and shaping clay to create round pieces. Whether you prefer to handbuild, use the wheel, or combine both techniques, we encourage creativity and exploration.

You’ll have the opportunity to make a variety of pieces, from functional items like cups, mugs,

and planters to decorative sculptures, luminaries, and more. The class also touches on surface texture, tool use, and altering forms to add unique character to your creations.

Each student will rotate between handbuilding and wheel throwing to ensure everyone has the chance to try both techniques. Come ready to play with clay and leave with your very own handmade pieces that reflect your creativity!

Your pottery will be ready for pickup 4-6 weeks after the workshop. Come get creative with us and take your ceramics skills to the next level!
