This after-school membership art class will provide in-depth art instruction with art instructor Amanda. Small class sizes ensure individual attention in a supportive, encouraging environment. The goal of this class is to develop creative, confident young artists with the technical skills to make art independently outside of class.
The class structure is as follows:
Guided Independent Art (20 minutes): Students will learn to independently use a variety of mediums (painting, drawing, sewing, papercraft, sculpture) while working on individual art pieces in a fun, collaborative setting.
Core Art Lesson (1 hour): Each class includes a lesson on art history, technique, or a demonstration of a new medium. Each lesson will be followed by a project using that medium.
The class structure is designed to be 25% independent art time to pursue individual creative projects and 75% art education and lessons.
This Winter, we will be covering:
– Pottery: pottery wheel, trimming, hand-building, & glazing (3 classes)
– Painting: acrylic and watercolor (2 classes)
